SMS Opt-In & Consent
How customers consent to receive text messages from local home-services businesses powered by ServicePulse AI.
What These Messages Are
ServicePulse AI powers AI phone and text answering for local home-services businesses such as HVAC, plumbing, and electrical contractors. When a customer contacts one of these businesses, our platform helps the business respond by text.
These messages are customer care, not unsolicited marketing. Every text is sent in response to a customer who contacted the business — a missed call, a form submission, or a booking. Messages include appointment confirmations, reminders, and follow-ups about the service the customer requested. Customers can opt out at any time by replying STOP.
How Customers Opt In
Customer-initiated (missed call)
A customer calls a local business (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc.) and the call is missed. The business texts the caller back to help — confirm what they need and schedule service. Because the customer called first and provided their number, the text is sent in direct response to their inbound contact.
Website contact / booking form
A customer enters their phone number on the business’s website contact or booking form. The form displays the consent language (shown below) with a separate SMS consent checkbox that is unchecked by default and optional. The customer can submit the form and receive service whether or not they check it — checking the box is the only thing that opts them in to text messages. Consent is never a condition of purchase.
In person or by phone
A customer gives their phone number in person or over the phone (for example, when scheduling a service visit) and verbally agrees to receive text updates such as appointment confirmations and reminders. Staff confirm consent before any messages are sent.
Sample Opt-In Form
This is an illustrative example of the consent a customer sees on a business's website booking or contact form. The consent checkbox and disclosure language appear before the customer submits their number.
